Kjartan Fløgstad

was born in 1944 in Sauda, Norway. Poet, novelist and essayist. Fløgstad has published many books in Norwegian, also translated into several languages. His breakthrough as a writer came with the 1977 novel Dalen Portland (English title: Dollar Road), for which he received the Nordic Council literature prize.
